Oh I thought you were in Ireland, my bad
I'm fairly sure there's some stuff still here, but not half as good as the US stuff.

Re: old family red nose
very rare really the old family red nose has being bred to to many different lines, and said to be extinct at this stage, people often think that just because their dog has a red nose then its from the old family strain but its not the case, as far as i know the lines its-self originated from Ireland by a guy named William J. Lightner, im 99% sure its not pure here today, Ricky B would be the 1 that would give you the best answer on that.

Re: old family red nose
Ireland is very far behind when it comes to sports etc but we are on the case at the moment, also as you know the breed has being bred by some individuals that only care about making a quick book and this i find has being its downfall, however i do believe there are some people (minority) that keep pedigrees of various lines going.

William J. Lightner was one of the greates breeder and preserver but no he did not make the line alot of breeders wer inporting dogs of the old family lightner was the one that had the bigest splash but their is jim corcoran that was inporting OFRN dogs he him self was from irland and ended up staying in the us he then sent for his dogs .William J. Lightner did not really like the OFRN look he just put up with it because of the qualaty of game that the dogs were puting out afther a few years William J. Lightner gave up the OfRN dog and started a diferent strain of drark color dogs .the great pit man dan mccoy and bob himphill saved what was last of the William J. Lightner dogs it was then bob walles and bob hemhill saved the OFRN dogs that were left from William J. Lightner and still to this day their is a few kennels that still preserve the line

Hello OFRNpits you are very welcome to the forum. I have just enjoyed reading the history of the Old Family Red Nose written by Richard Stratton. it looks like you have an interest in weight pulling. do you make the harness yourself?
We would gladly except any donations of weight pull harnesses as we are a non profit organization but im sure we could afford the postage

OFRNpits I was just having the craic as we say here in Ireland, but that is a very generous offer and we might just take you up on it. It is possible a few of us might want to order Harnesses, what price would you do 10 for including postage?
