Hungarian AMSTAFF IMPORT
Hi, im new to this website, its a very good website with a lot of advice and information regarding pitbull types. Being a lover of pitbulls, its such a shame about the laws of owning one. i live in Scotland and im currently looking into trying to import an amstaff from hungary to ireland then taking it home. i know its illegal and i know the consequences of owning one but like anyone, if you want something you are going to try your best to get it. also i know you deal with rehoming dogs but has anyone ever imported from another country?? can anyone shed any light on the whole process of importing an amstaff into ireland, and which form of transport would be best suited
i know it will need
1. passport
2. 21 day rabies jags
If anyone has experienced this before it would be great to hear from you.
thanks in advance

R u on Facebook jack? I don't think it's illegal to own an Amstaff in the uk once you have the proper paper work to prove it's an Amstaff.

Re: Hungarian AMSTAFF IMPORT
We imported our staff from holland 11years ago but in them days ya needed to leave the dog in qurentine for 6 months. we did the qurinten in spain and drove to france then got the boat to england then drove accross englang and got the boat to ireland.
Now a days ya get the rabies vaccine 3 weeks befor ya travel think ya need to get it de flead and wormed too. then when ya get to ireland its recommended ya de flea and worm again.

AmStaffs technically are legal in the Uk when they've papers. Goloka kennels were allowed to bring their male Amstaff to Belfast for a show.

That's funny, when i was at a European show in the RDS back in i think 2009 they wouldn't let the am staffs through the UK, they sent them back home.

They have to have all their documents in order, but technically, they're legal.

I would of thought they would still come under the term "type"

It's to do with the fact the they're KC/FCI recognisable.

This is why the powers that be were seizing crosses like bulldog x staff or boxer x staff. Just because they looked of "type"

i seen that program death row dogs, most of the dogs taking were not pit's and the silly fool's were handing back a dog that had already bitten a child. The red nose pit pup that was put down was as friendly as they come, how does this seen fair? I think the uk along with a lot of places need 2 pull their heads out of their asses its a sin.

Re: Hungarian AMSTAFF IMPORT
Its amazing how many of the these dog centers take dogs back which have bitten people and happily re-home them.
I saw that programme, are you talking about the red pup the woman had in the flat? If so I will agree it was a shame but part of me thought it was better off dead. The dog was confined to a small flat, there was £$%& and *&%£ all over the place, what kind of life is that for any animal? Let alone a breed which needs more exercise than most. Some of you may say it was getting food and love but without physical and mental exercise, I would think the dog would get too much for her when it matured.

Re: Hungarian AMSTAFF IMPORT
If it were my choice id agree with you that the home the pup came from was fair from suitable for a rat and so was the owners. My point was that these people don't know what breed or breeds of dogs their taking in or letting out, they let out a dog that has bitten a child and kill the friendly pup because the law states they cant be re-homed to anyone other then the original owner weather their friendly or not, it don't make seance at all its madness.
