Multisport /Triathlon Pick a Team??

After chatting to Jules and Phil we Just wanted to get some feedback from you guys about having a day that consists of Teams and having a Multisport event were teams will compete against each other in a Triathlon.

Each team would be picked randomly out of a bag so you all have noting to be giving out about lol

An idea on how it would work would be a row of events would be set up and as soon as the first dog starts of he/she is timed from start to finish and so on, the team with the lowest time will be the winners! All ideas are welcome.

Sounds great, we could have the long jump in front of the hurdles and then when they finish long jump they go straight into the hurdles and when they finish the hurdles their harnesses are put on and they have to do speed pull back down the field and out for the next dog to come in lol !!!!!!!!!

How would the teams work ? 2 or 3 dogs on a team, picked out of a hat ?

You might want some handicap system for drawing up the teams. Or it could be a team of my Pablo and say Alba coming up against the likes of a team of Brock and Butch lol

The teams would have to be mixed. Depending on dogs on the day for eg. a team of 3 would be 2 APBT's and one SBT.

Another idea is to have the top 4/5/6 dogs in the league to be team captains and then the dogs would be drawn to make up the teams that way. That would make sure the best dogs wouldnt be in the same teams.

Everyone throw there ideas in the pot and we are sure to come up with a fair way of running it.

I agree with the team captain idea. My thoughts were that the dog would start with speed pull to save on putting the harness on then has to do 15 on the a frame before moving onto the hurdles, so he comes down the old track off with the harness onto a frame which is between the end of the old track and beginning of the new track and finish up with hurdles, the timer could start the dog and then walk over to the end of the lure to catch the end result.

Yes that's the way we were thinking Phil, starting off with the speed pull would make things easier for us all as some of the dogs can take up more time then others when getting their harness on, when the first dog moves the next dog from the same team should be ready to go with there harness on and waiting for the relay pole to take off. I love the idea of having the long jump in it too, the more activity's we have the better all we need to do then is sus out the placement. Even with the top dogs being caption there could still be a chance 2 small dogs could end up on a team and we cant really prevent that however some of the small dogs are as good as the big 1s at certain events. It will be a great bit of crack and the main thing to do is enjoy! i hope the owners are as fast as their dogs because its not only the dogs working here its about team work.

Its funny the likes of myself and criz could end up on 2 or 3 teams if our dogs are separated

Would you not run it that the dogs do their events as per usual, but at the end the 3 times for hurdles are added, 3 results from A-frame and 3 lengths from the Long Jump could all be added?

So you could have one team with say:

9s + 11s + 12s = 32s (Hurdles/Lure)

35 overs + 20 + overs + 30 overs = 85 overs (A-frame)

14' + 10' + 6' = 30' (Long jump)

And then reward the teams of 3 with prizes for each activity.

OR, add the overs and feet-jumped and take away the lure time? I.e. 85 + 30 - 32 = 83, which could be the overall score.

its a team event harry, the first team called up will start with their first dog, when that dog has completed all disciplines the next dog from that team should be ready to go. The time will start from when the first dog takes off and will be stopped when the last dog on that team has crossed the finish line then that team is finished, That time will be compared to all other teams were a winner will be announced.
What we need is ideas as to what way would be best to set up the corse to get true them easier.

You couldn't expect your dog to 30 overs or more after already messing at this?

you are rite harry we would have a day just for teams, it would take up the guts of a day to do this and depending on the amount of teams we would have.

Love the drawing Harry lol, looking at the skinny legs on that lad at the A frame its gotta be phil with lil lol. If this is going to be run as a relay type race then the finish has to be at the holding area. Might not be wise to have the dogs running full speed towards the holding area so if this was to run as a relay we would need a holding pen at the top for the other members of the team. Maybe we should leave the lure race/hurdles and use the other disciplines instead.

I think rather than run a relay just add the times together and give a combined weight, it will be hard to drag the sled back to the next dog and reset the lure and all before the next one gets to it.

Leave the speed pull and harnesses out of it then, start with lure, then the A-Frame (would need to be boxed in so I can drag Molly's ass over it) and then finish with the Long jump, no harnesses or sleigh to worry about!

would ya not do speed pull 50m.... a-frame.... in harry's pic where the lure is do hurdles and finish with the long jump.

also if everyone that is there helps out i think it could work
one for speed pull, one to hold/count a-frame, one to let dog go at hurdles or the owner can do that and one to time.

dont know what its going to be like till ya try it and then im sure thats when things run smooth or need to be improved... at the end of the day its a bit of a laugh for the first time and the dogs will love it no matter what happens

one request from me tho.... oxegen tank and ambulance on stand by coz ill need it after doing the course 3 times.... lol.... sounds like a deadly idea to me

ok guys we have it sused, the activitys will be hurdles then A-frame then speed pull ending up on the long jump. 1 dog will run from team A and their Round will be timed then on to the dog from team B and so on.

Each team have a fairly good chance of winning. Its not about what dogs are the fastest or strongest its about keeping your dogs focused on you and controlling the bate. Even the top dogs and their handlers can easily make a mistake were the dog can catch a bate toy and that's a lot of time to loose when your chasing after a dog or trying to wedge a ball out of their mouths lol

The tool that will get you and your team threw this round is focus and trying to keep that drive going after the hurdles, if you can keep your dogs driven then you should be able to keep them focused = good round.

Each round will have helpers spreed out around the corse, for instance...
At the end of the hurdles you will have to go strait to the A-Frame Were you will be asked to do 10 over, The person running the lure can take that count. Finishing the a-frame a helper will wait at the start line of the speed pull with your harness, again this is were time is important, You can ether ask at the start line for that helper to release or bate your dog, When finished 50 meters speed pull its up to you to get your dogs harness off as fast as you can and go like hell for leather to the long jump set up for you near the finish line, again there will be a helper there to hold your dog while you set your self up at the end of the long jump! Should be a great bit of crack.
