Ok Guys & Gals I need your help

The last few days I've been mentioning Pits to my parents and have basically hit a brick wall. So I need your help on ways of convincing them that we should get 1.

Advantages :D
1. I'll be paying for him myself, I've got E900 (Not that I have any desire to spend it all )
2. We have loads of space, almost 2acres and 100's more in the fields around.
3. We have a mini boarding kennels set-up with enough runs for 3dogs and we only have 2
4. I love pitbulls.

Disadvantages
1. My dad does not really want anymore dogs, whatever the breed.
2. My mam is still nieve of Pits as she reads the paper too much


So any suggestions on the best way of getting round the problems and getting a Pit would be greatly appreciated. :D

a good idea would be to foster a puppy and let the family get an idea how it would be with 3 dogs. im sure in time your mam and dad will realize how much you love the breed, respect your mam and dad and show them just how responsible you are by educating yourself as much as possible about the breed and pass this to your parents.

You took the words right out of my mouth Lil. That's a realy good idea, you can prove to your parents that you are willing to put the work in to look after one of these realy special breed of dog. Plus you will be a great help by fostering one of these dogs, your parents will see how intelligent these dogs are. But unfortunatley you are still living under your parents roof. So you have to respect them no matter what the outcome is. So hang in there Harry :D

Ehh, I've stoped mentioning dogs around my parents as they really have had enough, I think I know too much and when someone is wrong about something I can't help it I have to correct them That really annoys both of them so I've stoped altogether.

Also, what about if any of ye are going away for a week, or two in the summer or earlier (If they haven't come around by then) I have a mini-boarding kennels set-up and there is 3 runs and I have 2 dogs that dont stay in the runs during the day anyway. So I could maybe take your dog (Free of charge of course) in the Summer??

yeah i did d same thing as driftervin... came home with the pup(not a pit though) :) nearly got kicked out of d house... at end of d day i von d battle with parents by showing them that i can take care of my pet :) so best of luck whatever u do :)

I talked to them, and got a no, they just don't want anymore dogs. thanks for your help and sugestions but there's no chance.

Oh well, will just have to work with what i've got and have some patience 'till I can get my own, and then make up for lost time. :D In the meantime I got this site and you guys to look at.

yeah i'm plannin on just waitin till i'm back from holls and just gettin a puppy and bringin him home lol done it ages ago with my doberman and it worked lol

Harry don't bring a pup home, you don't know the consequences. I know its hard, but if you did go against their wish's, you just dont know the outcome. Give it time and you will have a breed of dog that you longed for :D

Eamo I know i'm not going to do anything for now, just going to do what I said in the post above, make the most of the 2 dogs I have and be patient and get my Pit in time. It has me kinda depressed now the whole thing......

You are doing the right thing, maybe in the future your parents might have a change of heart. Once you show them you are mature and can be trusted, you never know. You are making the right decision.

they're alright I suppose...... :D Ruby the puppy, she is mine 500e in August :D And Bobby still has that hideous brown nose! It was black up till December and then it turned brown I hate it!!! It's slowly turning back now tho. :D

thats very true eamo, we have all done silly things but reality is if your going to bring a dog into your home its very important that all the family members are happy about it. im sure when you get a little older your man and dad will be fine, as you said for now you can educate yourself through our dogs :D

Yeah had a beautiful lil fella but he was sick from the very start and always picked up things so eventually he died from a blood diesese he had since birth :-(

Well, Lil in fact this morning me and my lil sisters had a vote and that put it at 3-2 :D But thats cause the 11yo wants a Dobe and the 7yo a GSD, Nobody goin to rob us eh? lol
