Brock, APBT

Brock is approximately 10half months old, Brock is neutered, vax'ed and microchiped, all homes will be vetted and Brock will also come with a contract ie if for any reason the new owner cannot keep him then he should be returned to us.
Brock came to us about 9-10 weeks ago, he was very underweight and didn't have much contact or socializing with people or with other dogs, he was very spooked, frighted and weary of people, he spent his first 3 weeks with ray where we both worked building up his confidence and trust, after his 3 week stay with ray he went on to Jules, jules has being fostering Brock now for the last 6-7 weeks and with the TLC he has received there he has come on leaps and bounds in every way. he is totally fabulous with other dogs the only problem is he has never had interactions with other dogs to help with his skills as a puppy " the do's and the don't s" he finds it hard to understand when another dog has warned him they have had enough, all he wants to do is play but sometimes he can get very excited and cause himself to get into trouble when other dogs have had enough, the ideal home for Brock would be some1 with experience and willing to put some time into him, ie build up his concordance and trust, he is fine around people, children over 10 years old and other dogs, i say children over 10 years old because as i mentioned before he can get very excited and could easily knock and small child over, all and all Brock will make some1 a fantastic companion he's like an 8week old puppy in an adult body, as Jules would have spent more time with Brock over the last while im sure Jules will have some more info to add to his caricature and temperament etc.

fair play jules lilly ray and every one else that helped out with this dog... his colours are different to any i've ever seen in ireland, he's looking in good shape hope he get his home soon were he can be treated like a king forever like how he deserves

Wow, he looks fantastic! I remember meeting him at the dog show with Lilly, hes a beautiful, and sweet dog. The home that gets him is going to be very lucky

I remember this poor dog when Lilly went to collect him. He was never socialised with people, and he was absolutley terriffied. If you seen this dog on the street, you would think hes half Greyhound or somthing in that line. Hes going to be a big dog and still has 2 years left of growing and maturing. As Lilly mentioned, hes for the more experienced person, not because of agression, but his clownish behaviour and he doesnt know when to stop. I wanted this dog myself, because of his sweet nature and such a over grown pup if you want to call it that. I would like to thank Lilly, Ray And especialy Jules for the rescue of this pup

As Lilly mentioned Brock arrived in Galway 6 weeks ago. As usual my faithful Bulldogs Poppy & Peggy-Sue were the first to meet and greet him. He showed no signs of aggression towards them and hasn’t to any dog since. That evening I was feeding the dogs and I thought it would do no harm to introduce Hank, so in came ‘The Man’ and he got the shock of his life and didn’t like what he saw next to his girls. Well Hank went of into a frenzy and I thought I had screwed things up for Brock and Hanks future friendship. The following day I wasn’t sure how to make amends but I knew by Brocks behaviour the previous evening he wasn’t going to be the problem. My daughter Zoe came over and the 2 of us decided to take the dogs on a walk together, it worked a treat and since then Hank doesn’t even look at Brock when he goes in the kennels during the day. All Brock wants to do is play with the other dogs if he gets to rough which is quite often Hank steps in to tell him off and I step in to tell Hank off. Lol. Socializing is not a problem providing Brock isn’t aloud to get to excited. I have found that he is easily distracted by other dogs while out in the field and it is nearly impossible to teach him anything. The usual routine is I let him play with the group for half an hour and then he is out on his own with me. A bag of treats and a tennis ball and you have his full attention. He has really settled on the lead thanks to the Illusion Collar (never thought I would get use out of it Lol). It really works with him and he will walk down the road and pass other dogs and people without to much fuss. A friend came to visit yesterday with her 3 year old little girl I had no idea what Brock would do. I had him on the lead at the time and I could see Brock wanted to say hello so I made him sit and put Zara’s hand in mine and let Brock have a good sniff. I am nearly convinced there would be no problem homing this dog with children providing they are supervised. Anyone that knows me will tell you I love to feed my dogs and I get great pleasure watching this lad eat his scran. He is really starting to put weight on although there is a long way to go I am feeding him 3 times a day, good quality nuts and house scraps morning and afternoon and as much tripe as he can eat in the evening. I can’t quite decide what kind of home would suite Brock because he is improving all the time. At the moment he wouldn’t suite being indoors as he can be quite destructive. He needs lots of stimulation and goes through all sorts of toys during the week his faves are Ropes and strong rubber balls. He loves affection and will sit by your side while you rub and scratch his ears and head. This fella would be a lovely project for someone but experience with dogs is a must but not necessarily bull breeds. The only other points I can say at the moment is he is crate trained, travels well in the car in the cage makes no noise ever unless one of the other dogs bark at something. I will keep you updated on his progress and any questions feel free...

Thanks charisma am enjoying looking after the ladeen. The collar is working really well, to be honest I have never had the need to use it before and it has sat in the press for ages. Brock is very good but occasionally he forgets he IS on the lead and lunges forward usually to sniff something in the hedge. Since I have been using this he is a gent when out walking and took to it straight away. I remember when I bought this I was thinking it was a gimmick but I had to have one to try. Had watched C. Milan use it on so many occasions but wasn't convinced untill this week. Go Cesar and the Illusion collar.

was thinking of getting one for shelby coz she pulls quite alot and no matter how much we have her out she still does it... wasnt sure about it myself so its good to hear it actually works... should have picked one up when i went to see him.

If any of yous notice the first picture, Brocks expression says it all. He looks so sad and confused, further down when Jules has him. Hes a different dog altogether, hes such a big softie, and he does need that little nip every so oten to calm him down

jules that would be awesome and when im finished i can post it back down to ya..... for future dogs that you take in and look after

i took back a dog 2 weeks ago ,she was underweight too..but im giving her twice what i give my other dogs,with a dog tonic for nursing mothers..its a great help for her .

Its good that we still have decent people out there, fairplay Mark. Not many people would take one of there dogs back and nurse it back to health

Am only after seeing this post Mark, what is the tonic would it be a help to Brock?

I'd say it's some sort of additive for pregnant dogs, a high-energy thing.

its called DOGVITAL jules..its for nursing bitchs..looks and smells like gravy..did not get to taste it ,but the dogs love it...but you can give it to any dog that could do with a tonic .great for the coat too...

thanks will get some, no harm this time of year giving the dogs a little something extra, especially the kennel dogs. Brock will surely benefit from that too. Will see if I can find my ass, I know where yours is but mine seems to have run off........

would that be ok for the pups to use.... coz id say if ya could use it would benefit them greatly... where can ya get it?

not for pups..you can buy it in any vet chemist..if you cant get it i can post up some..but i would not use it on a pup unless it was in very bad need of it
